Boston CITY HALL PLAZA art walk AND SITE ACTIVATION

Working with the Office of Arts and Culture I created a special edition art walk that explores the dynamic history of Boston City Hall and Boston City Hall Plaza. On this 14 point Public Art Tour of the Boston City Hall plaza we use public art to explore the history of the area and the people who helped make the city what it is today.
As part of this project The Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture was also looking for a unique piece of art to include with the tour and to document the space.
I created a unique Art Walk Map for the city that interprets the space and reflects the evolution of the Boston City Hall Plaza while providing a clear and easy map for guests to follow. Along with that I also created an informational art list to go with it, announcements to be shared on social media and postcards we could give away during the activation.
The Boston City Hall Plaza Art Walk activation happened over the weekend of September 5-6. We staged a series of two in-person art walks on each day. Attendees met in City Hall Plaza and participated in a 1.5 hour walking tour during which time we discussed the history and legacy of Boston City Hall and the history reflected in the public space through public art. It was a wonderful weekend full of community and creativity..
